Customs investigator Kressin returns from a Mediterranean cruise. Shortly before Hamburg, tour guide Ben Canitz behaves suspiciously. The next morning, Kressin reads in the newspaper that Canitz has been found dead in a canal in Hamburg. He gets involved in the police investigation and comes across a gang that is smuggling large quantities of drugs into Germany.

Two serious criminals have been caught abroad. The German police pick them up and transport them to Cologne in a special compartment of the Nordexpress. The gang, led by their boss Sievers, plans to kidnap the two. Members of this gang replace the locomotive driver and train staff with their own people so that they can safely stop the Nordexpress at a location of their choosing. Customs investigator Kressin, on his way back from Denmark, where he was dealing with porn smuggling, is on the train. He manages to prevent the kidnapping of the serious criminals.

A man collapses in Beethovenstrasse. His murderer flees. The dead man, a private detective from New York, was on the trail of an international blackmail ring. Supported by customs investigator Kressin, Sandy, the dead man's partner, takes over the case. He manages to sneak into the blackmail ring. But the turbulence of the Cologne carnival makes the case more and more confusing, inscrutable and ultimately ends in a dark, bloody nightmare.

Having just arrived by plane from Istanbul, Kressin is waiting at the baggage carousel, keeping an eye on the charming Asian woman Lyn, who was sitting next to him on the plane. Instead of his suitcase, a corpse is wheeled up, and Lyn has suddenly disappeared. Since 350,000 marks were found on the dead man, Kressin searches for the murderer in the smuggling world and stumbles upon two chess pieces that cause a stir.

One lonely evening, factory owner Martin Koenen takes a girl home with him. Irene Lersch was coming home from a nightclub and had missed the bus. She wasn't entirely unhappy about being picked up by an older man-Koenen, on the other hand, is insecure and uptight. He offers Irene a drink. Then he goes to the bathroom to take a shower. When he returns, the girl is dead. Koenen loses his nerve. Instead of calling the police, he takes the body away, simply dumping it in a park.

Seventeen-year-old schoolgirl Sina Wolf has an affair with her married schoolteacher. When one of her friends attempts to blackmail her, she lures him to the forest and kills him. Kommissar Finke does not believe her story she fabricates and continues to investigate.

After her husband's death, Claudia Bernhold discovers that he was a blackmailer. Suddenly she has an explanation for how, despite modest income, she could afford a small villa and a relatively lavish lifestyle. During his research, Haferkamp comes across the wealthy Eckart Waarst. Could he be the blackmailed man? But how can he be blackmailed? In the files of unsolved cases, Haferkamp finds a lead, but no proof. He has to resort to a ruse.

Two prisoners on remand take a prison officer hostage and escape from the prison. In front of the main gate, Sergeant Jakobs shoots one of the escapees, the Turk Suk. Inspector Haferkamp is faced with a difficult situation, because Sergeant Wörlemann accuses his colleague Jakobs of having shot prematurely and unnecessarily. Since Jakobs denies the truth of this statement, the fugitive Tomi Selzer would be an important witness, but Tomi does not turn himself in because he does not want to go back to prison. He was innocently imprisoned, but the hostage-taking means he can expect a several-year sentence. Haferkamp uses all means to get hold of his suspicious witness. These complications almost inevitably lead to catastrophe.

The 47-year-old business manager Kurt Wiedemann became unemployed due to the decline of his company. Because of his age, he cannot find a comparable position. Wiedemann fears that, as his financial difficulties grow, he will not be able to maintain his standard of living and therefore his younger, attractive wife. Karin Wiedemann is actually having an affair with the up-and-comer Christian Zehle. Wiedemann lies in wait for his rival, murders him and arranges the circumstances so that it appears as if he had surprised Zehle and an "accomplice" during a break-in and shot Zehle while the second man escaped with the loot. To the murderer's great surprise, however, Inspector Haferkamp tracks down a certain Roll, who could well be the "accomplice" that Wiedemann had only invented.

When Schimanski comes home from work in the evening, a girl is sitting on the stairs with him. It is 17-year-old Katja. Her mother, manager of the specialty restaurant "Hawaii", has been murdered, murdered in a way that suggests the perpetrator's very personal motives. Schimanski and Thanner inevitably have to look after Katja: someone is after her, looking for something that was not found in her murdered mother's apartment. It's about drugs. The major dealer and suspected murderer of Katja's mother is Straub, owner of the restaurant "Hawaii". They'll catch him - it's only a matter of time. But then it turns out that things are much more complicated. The police now urgently need Katja's help.

When the dead body of an asian child is discovered in a lateral river channel in Duisburg, chief inspectors Schimanski and Thanner have to investigate the case. The autopsy shows that the victim had typhus, since this could lead to a dangerous epidemic, Schimanski and Thanner had to find out more information as quickly as possible, while under pressure from the press and the public.

Walther and Stettner investigate the murder of a homeless woman in Berlin's Tiergarten. It seems that this was not an one-off case...

Dr. Waldorf, a physician is found murdered in his office. Suspect is Baumgarten, the director of the waste recycling company on whose behalf several of the doctor's patients, had regularly shipped cargoes of toxic waste, is also killed. The motive seems clear: a cover-up of criminal environmental pollution on a large scale. But who were the perpetrators?

Schimanski seeks relaxation on the soccer field. And there, a man is beaten to death, apparently the victim of the increasingly brutal brawls between soccer fans. Is the dead man really the victim of the fans, or did he have something to do with the illegal recruitment of foreign workers, or did he perhaps want to monetize his knowledge and was therefore eliminated?

Schimanski helps restaurant owner Guido against blackmailers, as a friend and as a professional, 'cause he is supposed to solve the murder of a boxer who must have something to do with this protection racket. But what is Guido his roll?

Jutta Stark appears to have committed suicide; she lies dead in front of her apartment block. She and her husband were members of the "Church of the Community". Schimanski and Thanner investigate

Uproar in a factory housing project in Duisburg: it is scheduled for sale and demolition. Industrialist Grassmann regrets the fate of the residents, but he, too, is forced by economic necessity. A dead man lies in a Duisburg bus - apparently the accidental victim of a stabbing. The murdered man was the owner of a dance studio that he ran together with his wife, Manuela Prinz. The investigation reveals that the perpetrator is a Thai. But when the detectives track him down, they find another body. Everything indicates that the Thai committed suicide. Schimanski suspects that the aloof Manuela is not telling him everything she knows. But suddenly it is she who asks him for help: her husband's "business friends" have contacted her and threatened her life if she is not willing to secure further "deliveries".

Thanner is annoyed: While he has to do the dirty work for the police - he has to identify the body of a prostitute - Schimanski is reopening a case that he, Thanner, closed long ago. And Thanner knows why: Ilona Vogtländer, daughter of Rolf Vogtländer, who is accused of murdering his wife Eva, is far too beautiful for Schimanski to resist.

Schimanski and Thanner are confronted with a case that happened a long time ago and that they were unable to solve: in 1978, one of the perpetrators was seriously injured during a bank robbery and was then executed in the bank by the leader of the gang. The perpetrators managed to escape - except for the Pole Zbiginiew Pawlak, who waited next to his dead brother until the police arrived. During the subsequent investigation, Pawlak was unable to say a word. The press then nicknamed him "Moltke", which he kept even during his prison sentence because he remained stubbornly silent.

Two Polish truck drivers are brutally murdered by an Arab hit squad at a scrap yard in Duisburg. At the same time, the exiled Pole Leczek, scrapyard owner and pimp, is apparently to be executed. But the attack fails. Schimanski and Thanner, who both witness the attack, can't believe their eyes.

A brutal serial rapist has plunged Ludwigshafen into a state of terror. Young Detective Lena Odenthal of the Vice Squad faces her first major case, focusing her investigation on three men with prior convictions. When one of the attacks ends fatally - and Lena unexpectedly takes charge of the Homicide Division - she decides to set a trap for the perpetrator, unaware that in doing so, she is putting her own life at risk…

When a policeman is killed, Schimanski's investigation gets personal.

Jochen Bähr, department head in a pharmaceutical company, is found shot dead in his boat early on a Sunday morning. At the crime scene is his young son Thomas, who is in shock and unable to speak. Schimanski, who needs the boy's statement, tries to break his encapsulation. He has initial success - then Thomas is kidnapped under the eyes of the inspector.

Schimanski is investigating the drug mafia. The trail leads to a luxurious club where political celebrities, the wealthy and the demimonde meet. But suddenly he is standing in front of Zabou. He knows her from before, when she was still a child, his girlfriend's daughter. Back then he was like a father to her. But what is she doing here now?

This time the crime scene is an Italian restaurant in Duisburg. Schimanski happens to witness an armed robbery of the landlord Giovanni Salvatore. He intervenes and experiences a fiasco: his girlfriend Renate is pushed into the line of fire by one of the gangsters and dies. Knowing that he has killed an innocent person, he puts down his weapon. Thanner joins the manhunt for the two perpetrators and pays dearly for it: Schimanski finds him unconscious, with serious injuries, after a car accident.

A murder in connection with illegal art trading leads - shortly after the fall of the Wall - to the first East-West contacts in the field of crime. Schimanski and Thanner investigate together with their popular colleagues Fuchs and Grawe from East Berlin: paintings owned by the GDR, which were extorted from museums and private individuals in the course of obtaining foreign currency, were put aside by former Stasi employees after the fall of the Wall and are now to be sold to the West via the old channels. The police suspect the Düsseldorf-based art dealer Schrader to be the key figure.

Schimanski is on a fishing holiday in an idyllic spot not far from Duisburg. There he witnesses a strange event: the veterinarian Karl-Heinz Ascher is found dead on his wedding day - hanged from a tree. Silke Faber, the bride, daughter of the richest farmer in town, is at a loss and asks Schimanski for help in solving the death.

Following an anonymous tip, Commissioner Lena Odenthal travels to the fictional Palatine village of Zarten. There, Höreth—an ethnic German repatriate from Romania—has been missing for two years; his clothing is discovered in the woods by a group of teenagers.

A bright Sunday morning - Schimanski and Thanner are having fun ice skating. During a daring maneuver, Schimanski breaks through and comes across the body of a little girl. The forensic pathologist determines that the child was raped and died of internal injuries. Since there is no missing person report, the police only manage to find the girl's mother after a few detours.

Schimanski's vacation turns into a fight for his life.

Chief engineer of Saarländ's Rosdorf nuclear plant Georg Bekker appears dead, supposedly of a drug overdose, and detective Max Palu takes charge of the investigation, meanwhile, Georg's sister starts recieveing mysterious floppy disks and becomes the target of threats along her daughter.

Viennese Inspector Moritz Eisner (Harald Krassnitzer) had envisioned his vacation in idyllic Tyrol quite differently. On the very day after his arrival, while out hiking, he stumbles upon a dead body. Hubert Egger (Gregor Seberg)—the son of Mayor Alois Egger (Dietmar Schönherr)—has been murdered in a manner as gruesome as it is symbolic. Someone has nailed the actor playing Jesus in the Passion Plays—traditionally performed by the small community every eight years—to the cross. The still-inexperienced Inspector Roxane Aschenwald (Sophie Rois) is assigned to solve the case.

A man is shot dead in broad daylight in Cologne city center. The bullet was fired from 700 meters away and went straight to the heart. To mark the 30th anniversary of Tatort, there was to be a special anniversary crime thriller with this episode. The Cologne detectives Ballauf and Schenk investigate together with their East German colleagues Ehrlicher and Kain. The four have to solve two murders.

The Austrian Bankverein causes a stir with an exhibition of watercolors by the famous Austrian painter Egon Schiele. Even before the opening, the paintings pique the interest of Ester von Steinhof, an American Jewish woman who travels to Vienna specifically to clarify her inheritance claim to two of the works. A scandal erupts at the vernissage: Dr. Manfred Reichelt, the lawyer she has retained, skillfully provokes the crowd, thereby winning the press over to his client's side. Although Mrs. von Steinhof does not approve of this tactic, it certainly achieves its intended effect—after all, various restitution claims regarding "Aryanized" looted art continue to occupy lawyers and courts to this very day. While Moritz Eisner is visiting his Innsbruck-based colleague, Roxane, the housekeeper of the young parish priest in the small Tyrolean village of Oberleis, is found bludgeoned to death. Everything points to a burglar who was caught by surprise. However, it soon becomes clear to the young detective that this cannot be a simple murder.

When the daughter of a biker is brutally raped and murdered, Ballauf and Schenk must overcome their prejudices to make sure justice is served. Directed by Kaspar Heidelbach, 2001.

Renata Lang is a guest at a high-profile medical conference centered on the subject of male fertility. Ingrid Knapp, a former university classmate of Renata’s, has invited her to visit and offer moral support. The scientist makes vague allusions that significant changes are soon to take place in her life. Shortly thereafter, the scientist is dead—and all signs point to circulatory collapse occurring inside the steam room. Renata is skeptical; she asks Moritz Eisner for help in ensuring that the body undergoes at least a forensic medical examination.

The Tatort teams of Leipzig and Köln are brought together, when the driver of an art transport between the two cities is found dead in his van, minus the irreplaceable artwork he had in his custody.

A body lies on a boat, a suspect runs away with the murder weapon in his hands, and there is evidence of robbery at the scene: Klara Blum's new case seems clear from the start. When a driver for a ship chandler gets in trouble with traffic police, a policeman ends up dead. Against the rest of the police force, Borowski is determined that the driver is not the killer. Meanwhile, in order to avoid suspension for chaining up a reluctant murder witness on a brothel roof naked, Borowski meets with psychologist Frieda Jung.

The findings of forensic doctor Prof. Karl-Friedrich Boerne were an open skull fracture. A man's body is discovered near Lake Aasee. The first indication for Commissioner Frank Thiel are tire tracks in the mud. But instead of finding the perpetrator, this clue leads the investigator duo Thiel and Boerne to the identity of the victim. The murdered Wolfram Baermann was an engineer and had successfully entered the wind turbine business with his long-time friend Klaus Weisberg. An international organ competition is taking place there, and a very special member of the jury is scheduled to receive personal protection. When the arrival of the Bishop—who was scheduled to open the competition—is delayed, the young organist Nikolaus Kutil steps in to fill the void. However, the spectacular opening concert ends in catastrophe: an organ pipe breaks loose from its mountings and crushes the young man to death in front of the assembled audience. Borowski has all the passengers on the ferry screened and reconstructs the captain's last hours. Even the first trace is strange: someone has opened the pilot door - the signal for an emergency. When a truck is robbed, one of the drivers is killed and another is seriously injured. The investigations always lead Lena Odenthal and Mario Kopper back to the shipping company, because it quickly becomes apparent that there was an informant within the company. When Lena and Kopper find out about the shipping company's payment difficulties, the perpetrator seems to have been identified. But then a second murder occurs and the two detectives have to start their investigation all over again.

A desperate mother leads Lursen and Stedefreund on a quest to see if cell phone radiation makes people sick.

The city of Kiel goes on lockdown after a sniper shoots a man on the Hörn Bridge.

He takes over the case from the homicide squad.

A mysterious traffic accident in the snow, leaving five people dead, presents special investigator Moritz Eisner (Harald Krassnitzer) with a host of riddles. For alongside the two drivers—both university students—police discover three additional deceased individuals inside the wrecked vehicle who, by all appearances, had died prior to the crash. [Eisner]

Private detective Peter Mang is found half-naked in a construction pit with a dog tattoo on his neck and puncture wounds in his back. Has he become the victim of his secret investigation? The trail leads Inspector Thiel to the villa of the industrialist family Rummel. Despite the clean facade, Sabine and Markus Rummel's marriage obviously seems to be crumbling: after all, the photos taken by the detective show that the factory boss and his new assistant Christine Schauer have more in common than just an employment relationship. Meanwhile, Prof. Boerne is once again investigating on his own. The fact that the murdered private detective looked so similar to him is something that doesn't bother the forensic doctor. But there is not much to suggest that a serial killer was actually at work here. However, the victim's ex-boyfriend André Pütz, a freelance photographer who mainly travels to crisis areas around the world, is an urgent suspect. Recently he had repeatedly stalked the young woman. When Inspector Thiel and Prof. Boerne surprise him at home, he flees headlong. And yet Thiel resists drawing hasty conclusions. He discovers parallels between the crime and other cases. Above all, the extremely attractive bank employee Anna Schäfer, whose apartment was recently broken into, won't let him go. But at first he meets her very aloofly.

A salt mine reveals the body of a security guard reported missing months earlier.

A young Turkish woman - Ayse Ozbay - is found hanging from a tree in the forest near the Tyrolean market town of Telfs. At first the police assumed it was a suicide, because within a year three other Turkish girls and a young man hanged themselves from the same tree in order to avoid being forced into marriage by the family.

A body is found in a Leipzig canal. The chief inspectors Eva Saalfeld and Andreas Keppler manage to find out the identity of the man: it is Peter Schneider, a successful Leipzig entrepreneur and family man.

A murder without a motive? - Inconceivably. And yet the murder of the 48-year-old senior physician Hermann Johns seems completely unfounded. The renowned physician, who worked in the maternity ward of a Cologne clinic, seems to have been popular with patients and hospital staff alike.

Boris Blaschke's body lies on the garbage amid leftovers and packaging that could have come from the shops he worked for, because Blaschke was area manager at the discount chain Billy and responsible for three Ludwigshafen branches. When Lena Odenthal and Kopper inspect his apartment, they realize that there was practically nothing else for Blaschke besides work.

The suicide of medical student Rojin Lewald poses a number of puzzles for chief inspector Inga Lürsen and her colleague Stedefreund. The young woman, who comes from a Turkish family, wanted to divorce her German husband. She leaves behind a two-year-old daughter. Her wealthy parents are successful and respected citizens of Bremen, open-minded but devout.

In his 15th case, inspector Fritz Dellwo has to investigate on his own because his colleague Charlotte Sänger is undergoing further training. But Dellwo is ripe for a vacation and decides to take some time off - a forty-year-old detective in midlife crisis. He visits his old love Katrin and subjects his life to a thorough examination. But even in the supposed idyll, crime catches up with him.

A dead body is found in the swimming pool of the "Schloss Hamberg" boarding school: Stephan appears to have committed suicide. Lovesickness may have driven the introverted son of a renowned banker and a celebrated actress to his death. However, an inconspicuous laundry button changes the entire scenario.

Thorsten Lannert and Sebastian Bootz are investigating the case of a man who was found shot dead in the Filder near Stuttgart Airport. The murdered man appeared to have lived beyond his means, but apparently had no apparent enemies. However, Lannert and Bootz come across unforeseen connections in the professional environment of the dead man, who worked as a customs officer at the airport.

Eva Saalfeld and Andreas Keppler are confronted with the excesses of the modern job market. Temporary work and illegal employment seem to encourage abuse of people. A young manager Armin Lohmann is found dead in his apartment. The first suspicion falls on his wife Katrin, but chief inspectors Saalfeld and Keppler find bloody footprints at the scene of the crime, which indicate the presence of a strange woman on the night of the crime.

A police officer is shot dead during an identity check at Hanover-Langenhagen Airport. What looks like a criminal's panicked reaction becomes increasingly mysterious. All surveillance cameras were out at the time of the crime. For Charlotte Lindholm, however, the case seems clear after just a few hours.

It's a picture-perfect summer's day when Prof. Boerne's golf tournament in Grothenburg is suddenly interrupted by a dead man in a tuxedo. With the tournament victory firmly in mind, Boerne is briefly tempted to deny his profession and to assume that Dr. Raimund Strothoff, the Münster banker, killed himself. Doro and Remy acted as popular esoteric stars in their TV show "Astraltime" in front of the camera. Selina works as a fortune teller behind the scenes.

Cenk Batu is investigating undercover in the Hamburg Special Operations Command (SEK) on behalf of his superior Uwe Kohnau. Some officials there are suspected of working illegally as trainers abroad and selling their specialist knowledge. Batu manages to gain the trust of SEK man Lars Jansen, who is also said to be involved in the deal. The case seems almost solved when the SEK is suddenly called because of an alleged hostage situation.

A dead man on the subway calls inspectors Ritter and Stark into action. It is the building contractor Horst Baumann, who had already come to the fore in the past due to a spectacular company bankruptcy. After a long stay abroad, he returned to Berlin to renovate real estate with the help of his attractive wife Alissa and his opaque partner Alsfeld. The investigations quickly bring the inspectors on the trail of the craftsman Rothe, who was ruined by the bankruptcy at the time. Had he wanted revenge on Baumann?

Gerhard Nieser, a wine inspector at the Saarland Institute for Food Research, is found murdered in a house on the outskirts of Saarbrücken. A man like that has a lot of responsibility - and power. Vintners tremble before him, wine shops fear his visit.

It's a tough case for Borowski: The body of the eight-year-old girl has hematomas and a broken rib - both older injuries. The inspector takes a closer look at the family: Michelle's parents, Nadine and Thies Nowak, have financial problems and are struggling with enormous marital problems. To make matters worse, Nadine is pregnant, and then Thies' ex-girlfriend reappears on the scene.

Florian robs a gas station to get money for drugs: he needs the money to meet a dealer. The deal is supposed to take place in an abandoned warehouse - but a SEK unit is already waiting there, having received a tip. Everything goes wrong here: Florian escapes, a SEK officer is shot. During their investigations, Lena Odenthal and Mario Kopper encounter a wall of silence.

A dead body is caught in the net of a German fishing boat off the Norwegian coast. But the dead man seems to be the second officer of the container ship MS Karina, Radek Jankowski, and he is apparently not missing. To Inga Lürsen and Stedefreund's astonishment, neither the water police nor the shipping company in Bremerhaven are willing to help.

When the body of the well-known investigative journalist Sandra Walch is found in the Danube on a foggy autumn morning in Linz, the alarm goes off in the Vienna Ministry of the Interior and Moritz Eisner is immediately dispatched as a special investigator. On the spot, Eisner learns that the reporter had been researching a red-hot story, which she surprisingly no longer wanted to publish.

Klara Blum and Kai Perlmann have been a well-rehearsed team for years, working well together and also getting along privately. It is all the more dreadful when Klara finds out that Perlmann unexpectedly finds himself in the crosshairs of the investigations involved in the murder of a young woman because he had met Constanza on the evening of her death.

Margret Saloschnik, in her mid-fifties, is found dead in front of a hotel in Kiel. Everything indicates that she threw herself off the roof of the hotel. Klaus Borowski and police psychologist Frieda Jung soon find suspects who all had a relationship with Margret.

Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk have to solve the murder of a young homeless man. Apparently the young drug addict Andi Lechner was poisoned. The bottle of wine he last drank was laced with antifreeze. Was it a targeted attack on him? Or was it a coincidence? Their investigations lead the detectives into the world of people on the fringes of society.

Lena Odenthal gets a call: a witness wants to testify something important about a murder, but when Lena Odenthal arrives at the meeting point, the witness is dead. The case she wanted to testify about was twelve years ago, the murderer confessed and has served his sentence. So what else did Michaela Bäuerle want to share?

The spectacular suicide of the Munich journalist Rainer Truss makes waves. Truss was known for solid front-line research when it came to exposing grievances or corruption. And Ivo's childhood friend comes under suspicion for the murder.
